Extended Reality WORKSHOPS Sept 29, Nov 3, & Dec 1
A new three-part series of workshops designed to provide PWL instructors and staff with hands-on experiences in Extended Reality Technologies, including virtual reality, augmented reality, mixed reality, and VR/AR with AI for enhancing instruction and learning runs this fall. A second companion series will run in the spring.
The sessions build on one another and are interactive, with participants provided time to learn and interact with the tools and speakers, with the intention to use the tools in their instructional practice. The workshops will be held in person, with the option for those who cannot attend in person to attend via Zoom.
Session 1, Introduction to X-Tended Reality for Enhancing Teaching and Learning – This workshop introduces XR technologies and their use for teaching and learning. Which XR technologies are out there? What are the differences? How are they used in formal education? Get a broad overview including easy out of box solutions.
Fri., Sept. 29, 12-3 p.m.
Session 2, Hands-On Exploration – We will explore many of the XR tools discussed throughout the workshops during this session. Attendees will be able to interact with both XR hardware and software. Get hands-on VR glasses, Merge Cube, and XR Apps for iPads.
Fri., Nov. 3, 12-3 p.m.
Session 3, XR Showcase – During this exciting, jampacked speaker session, participants will hear from instructors at Purdue and other universities using XR technologies for teaching. Discover how faculty are integrating these technologies in their classes with presentations and demonstrations.
